Current Sermon Series:
The definition of revolution is “a radical, dramatic, far-reaching change in your thinking and behavior.” It was a revolution grounded upon the empty tomb and the risen Christ that shook the first century world to its core. This revolution propelled Christianity to rise up from the ashes of 11 timid disciples to more than 5,000 followers in just one month. Even James, the brother of Christ, was transformed from a skeptic (John 7:5) to one that would soon call Jesus his Lord, write a book of the Bible, and later die for the claim that his brother was God. Now, that’s what I call a revolution!
It’s my prayer that the same transformation would occur at Union Baptist Church as we move into the year 2010. Please make plans to join us on Sunday mornings at 9 or 11 a.m. through the month of February for a journey through the book of James. This sermon series is entitled “New Year’s Revolution” and will highlight the dynamic truths that God used to catapult the early church to shake their world for Jesus. It is my prayer that as we embrace the same truths, we too will see our hearts and community shaken by the risen Savior.
Hope to See You Each Sunday,
Pastor Kevin

GETTING READY Kevin Milburn, pastor of Union Baptist Church, and church member Janet Barnett organize toys for the next group of parents visiting the Christmas “store” provided by God’s Appalachian Partnership. Because of the recession and high unemployment, many more people have turned to GAP for help compared to recent years, according to missionary Angie Wagoner.
The Young Couples Class would like to invite you to join them in their adventures through the bible in a year. Arnie has a blog where he will give insights on some of the scriptures. Please visit his blog and join in the adventure.
